Summit Police Officer Ruddy Garita, brother of our own Kat Garita and fiancé of Samantha Lopez, is joining the rest of the Summit Police Department on the Police Unity Tour this May.
Participants will be riding their bikes to Washington DC in honor of officers killed in the line of duty. This year, the memorial will recognize Summit’s own Det Matthew Tarentino.
Each officer is raising money to cover the department’s expenses for the trip. Our whole community was affected by the loss of Det Tarentino, most especially the officers like Ruddy, who were his coworkers and close friends.
